Coming To France With a Teenager and EducationHi Tony, I just received your email and was thrilled to read all the information. We have not heard from you in the last few years but have heard of you each time we return to France. I heard that you were doing bigger and more location/rentals in Paris and Provence now and not so much in the South West and that you had moved from Nizas. Is all that true? We want to return to France perhaps to Paris to live but will have to do some serious persuading to make our recently turned 13 year old daughter feel the same. Any ideas? Perhaps you know of other people who have been through the same that you could put me in contact with. I hope all is going well for you and your family and look forward to hearing from you and if you have any information on "teenagers and changing countries" Regards, Jill === Hi Jill Yes we moved a little further South of Pezenas, still in cycling distance, to a bigger home for us all. At 13 your daughter will not fit comfortably into the French school system - the workload is very hard and totally fluent French is needed plus she has already missed years in the existing curriculum. However an International school or English speaking school is a real option in Paris, it depends on your budget and the district you live in. I am told there are 100,000 English speaking (mostly American) people in Paris - you may get a feel for the potential from http://www.fusac.com/ and http://www.paris-anglo.com/ may help, but there is a lot of stuff in there I would personally avoid an a few people I dislike and distrust. Making a living never gets easier and is perhaps harder in France than many places, but we prefer it to anywhere else we have been - so - everything is possible.
