Everything you always wanted to know about France - from France |

We recently published an article from our website entitled "The Lady Doth Protest Too Much" with reference to a news release from VEF. We have retracted the offending article from our website for legal reasons and we would like to unreservedly and openly apologise to VEF for damage caused to their reputation. We state for the record that VEF does not receive any share of the agency commission for resale property in France, nor does any sister or subsidiary company of VEF. We were entirely wrong to suggest otherwise. VEF is remunerated by purchasers who pay a fixed fee of £4500+VAT for the provision of professional services in the UK. The VEF fee is in consideration of provision of services in relation to the sale. It is not referred to in the sale agreement drafted by the estate agent or notaire and is not an increase in the notaire's fee and does not result in any financial implication for the notaire, agent or vendor. VEF clients are provided with a translation of the first contract (compromis de vente) and a detailed letter report, they have a designated point of contact in VEF's London office throughout the sale and a bilingual and highly trained Language and Law department who lieges with the notaire to provide detailed information in relation to inheritance laws in France, powers of attorney; wills, marriage contracts and a written report of the final deed. Al translations are carried out by qualified and trained translators. Clients also have access to a personalized tracking of the sale via VEF's website www.vefuk.com. The VEF fee is therefore in consideration for services rendered in relation to the sale which are over and above the services which are provided by French estate agents. VEF Partner offices work in conjunction with other local estate agents to bring the clients the widest possible property portfolio and to find the right property which meets the client's requirements. Offices commonly work with multiple partner estate agents and have access to these entire agents' entire portfolio which invariably can be many thousands of properties. The properties are priced competitively according to the local market, and VEF ensure a transparent approach to its fee, and that of the estate agent and the notaire to ensure that the client knows what financial commitment will be required for the purchase. We incorrectly suggested in our article that VEF partner offices are not registered estate agents. We would like to retract this statement. VEF partner offices are either registered estate agents themselves or are registered negotiators on behalf of local estate agents.
