Everything you always wanted to know about France - from France |
|
Notes from the South of France ======= We just got back to our village after taking a last minute break in Morocco - it was out first ever holiday as a family. I lost my camera on the first day so you are spared a holiday snaps page this time - interestingly I saw things better by not having a camera. The mail and support I got from my last newsletter was wondrous - I am still trying to reply to them all. Gremlins got at an important page on my site at www.Nizas.com. If you were advertising or renting from RentalsFrance please take a couple of minutes to read this letter http://www.Nizas.com/newsletters/feb06/letter.html http://www.Nizas.com/newsletters/feb06/letter.html - I have also posted this on the Forum at http://nizas.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=2 http://nizas.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=2 I welcome all comments and expect some tough criticism, but I hope that the comments will help get some solutions for lost time and opportunity. Hopefully Fubra, the company who took over the RentalsFrance sites and business, will eventually get them working again. It has been a big loss for us and I am concerned about owners who were relying on us to help get bookings this year. I have added a service on Nizas.com for owners to show their properties at http://nizas.com/estate/mojoEstate.cgi http://nizas.com/estate/mojoEstate.cgi - there is no charge for this service and I will now promote it very strongly. But I know it is a bore to enter your details into yet another website, so if you prefer, please just send me the URL of any page your property is displayed on and I will make a feed directly to that page for you. At the moment there is only one advert showing, but this only went live today, RentalsFrance started with only our own Apartment in Nizas and we ended with over 4,000 properties on offer in France. ======= Suzanne, a regular reader, asked for help to promote a site http://nizas.com/newsletters/mar06_1/breast_cancer.html A favour to ask for Breast Cancer ======= Information needed please... The main reason I was looking for a strategic partner for RentalsFrance was the information I was given by accountants and financial people in France that, from April this year, any overseas company owned by a French resident (like me) will be considered as a French company for tax and legal status, no matter where it is incorporated, this applies to me if I am the owner of the majority of the shares. After the horrors of my experiences with the tax people in France a couple of years ago - see archives at http://nizas.com/newsletters/archives/ http://nizas.com/newsletters/archives/ Although everyone I speak to tells me about this new law no one has yet quoted a reference. Even my local tax office says it exists but cant tell me what it is. If anyone can enlighten me further I would like to publish more details as I have had a lot of people asking about this. ====== Let Head Rule Heart When Buying In A Strange Land I picked up http://nizas.com/newsletters/mar06_1/overseas_property.html this article in the Financial Times recently ======= Channel 4 Seeks Stories Are you having a nightmare with a property abroad? Are foreign laws tying you up in knots? Channel 4’s Housetrapped is back http://nizas.com/newsletters/mar06_1/housetrapped.html and here to help you! ======= Nizas and Montblanc A popular feature of these notes has been my personal ramblings about people and life in the Village. I still get mail about the barrel in Nizas blocking the road, and many Jazz fans wrote to me about Terry Thompson who was a great friend of ours and lived in Nizas. Our life in Montblanc is different - the kids are grown up now and at college and lycee in Pezenas and Montpellier, but we do get to Nizas often, we have good friends there and are rounding up the "usual suspects" this Sunday for lunch at our place. I plan to start a series of tales about the people and places around us - first I must make sure none are on this mailing list. ======= Please visit http://nizas.com/ http://nizas.com/ - and write to me with any questions about life or living in France I will be writing regularly, offering help where I can and use the websites to give a service. All this is supported by the advertising on the site, there are no fees or charges and I will try to reply to all mail. Contact me through the website from http://nizas.com/contact/index.html Or simply reply to this email. Tony Tidswell Montblanc, Languedoc March 8 2006 There are over 2,000 features and articles on this site about French life and living in France. You can search from the search box above. Do browse through our website and please use the advertising links, they help pay for the site. I do try to reply to all mail - Contact Me - most is about property or living in France. I publish comments in this newsletter which I believe are of interest and may help find answers for people wanting to come to France. I hope readers will go to the adverts which help support our overheads. |
