And Yet They Make Billions in Profits - Bank Robbery

===

I will start this off by accepting your "I told you so" and I promise to go through you next time, but I was hoping you might be able to help me. At the instruction of an American owner of a rental property, I wired a week's rent and security to a partnership account at the Apt branch of Societe Marseillaise de Credit. This was done in November. To date, the funds, which have definitely left my account, have not yet been posted to his. My bank sent out a wire trace request a little over a week ago but has not gotten a response and indicates it is at the mercy of the French bank for a reply.

Our departure date is looming and I feel an overwhelming urge to, metaphorically, pound on a desk at the bank. Is there any way I could contact the local bank and what might the proper protocol be for trying to get the appropriate person on the phone?

I would also be curious if you have seen this problem come up from time to time? The Owner is honest and reliable, although his manager may be less so.

Any help or commiseration you might offer would be most appreciated. I thoroughly enjoy your newsletter and websites.

Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim

I have found that everything I do through French banks in the last six months can take from two to five weeks to get transferred - even sending a cheque from a French bank to a French bank - the worst case was getting the counter clerk to pay in money to another branch for me - it took 4 weeks to arrive, I was told that the reason was the form was not the right one, even the idiots behind the counter do notknow whatthey are doing.

They seem to run by lazy, indifferent unsackable, arrogant untrained incompetent fools.

The best protocol is a fist thumping tearful and hysterical approach in the branch - but nothing in my 16 years of frustrating experience dealing with these morons makes a difference

You have my commiseration by the bucketload

Bonne Chance

Tony

Merci Beaucoup. That does make me feel better.
