"La Griffe"
This is the fountain and statue of Artemis in the center of our village
The daughter of Leto and Zeus, and twin sister of Apollo. Artemis is the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt and wild animals, and fertility (she became a goddess of fertility and childbirth mainly in cities). She was often depicted with the crescent of the moon above her forehead and was sometimes identified with Selene (goddess of the moon). |

The Cafe in the center of Nizas - facing the statue and fountain. If you are lucky enough to find it open the beer is good but coffee is not always available and never with milk - a sandwich is out of the question - the owner Alain , is an "interesting" man. ("fat git" is the usual expression) |
Empty for over 60 years, this important house is slowly crumbling into ruin. The owner died with no heirs and the ownership and death duties can keep this sort of property empty and unloved for many years.
It would cost more to renovate and repair that it is worth. At least no one complains when we put a stage in front during the summer for all the concerts and festivals. |

This is the other neglected house in the center of Nizas - with no local Priest, only a visiting one for Mass, it is just left locked and unused. |
Nothing to do with "La Griffe" - but we live just round the corner and this is our daughter Clio and three of her boyfriends stacking wood - Clio is supervising. |
